Working with Keppie Design in a joint bid for the new Health Care Campus, in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, which included a 24 hour Health Centre, a Mental Health Resource Centre, Community Hospital and Day Centre for the elderly. All facilities were to be located on a challenging site, split into two distinct zones by a public cycle path. Aware that a key community facility would be created, we focused on the patient experience and concentrated on developing a campus feel around an improved public route, which made patients and staff comfortable and relaxed. The health centre was orientated to give the facility a distinct local identity; located on the busier part of the site where the most activity would be taking place. The design would create distinct public and private zones to strengthen the community feel and create the organisational structure required by the staff. The hospital and CMHRC would be located on the quieter tree lined site to the North.
