A second placed entry in the national competition to masterplan the major riverfront site of Pacific Quay on the Clyde, for Glasgow City Council, the BBC, the new Science Centre and Scottish Enterprise. The project looks at developing a framework for the area that looks beyond the immediate boundaries of the site to create a considered regeneration strategy within the context of transport connections, the city centre and surrounding communities and the 'river corridor' as a whole. The design proposes a dense 'mat' of building that exploits the available mix of public, commercial and creative design uses to create a vibrant framework for a new 24 hour 'mixed media city' focused around the river. This dense mix allows the smaller, yet growing digital industries to develop alongside and feed off the larger commercial operations and organisations. Combined with these 'work' elements would be a range of support and leisure facilities focused around Glasgow's new international Science Centre.
