St Andrew Square Mixed-use Redevelopment
Edinburgh

This project is located within the World Heritage Site of Edinburgh’s New Town and involves the redevelopment of 7 listed buildings on the south side of St Andrew Square that formed the original headquarters of the Scottish Provident insurance firm. The redevelopment has involved close liaison with Edinburgh City Council and Historic Scotland to agree the conversion and reuse of the grade A listed Burnett building and the grade B listed Kinnimouth & Paul building, as well as the selective demolition of a number of the other listed buildings.

The project is seen as a major element within the regeneration of the east end of St Andrew Square and, when completed, will provide 100,000 sq ft of office accommodation and 70,000 sq ft of retail space within the heart of the City. The scheme, which received planning and listed building consent in 2007, was strongly supported by the Scottish Government’s national design body, Architecture and Design Scotland.
