Journeys in a Forgotten Landscape
Scotland / Poland

‘Journeys in a Forgotten Landscape’ is part of an ongoing international exchange programme which brings together pupils from Scotland and Poland in exploring environmental issues and sustainability in relation to improving their own school environments. The programme is led by our education director Gary Johnson, in co-operation with Lucznica Academy Association, which has been promoting and leading architectural programmes with children and youth in Poland since 2002.

The ‘Journeys in a Forgotten Landscape’ programme was born in september 2006 during the international workshop and meetings organised by PLAYCE (www.playce.org). Since that first meeting, pupils from St Matthews Academy in Kilwinning have been involved in a wide variety of activities and projects. They have met with architects and artists from different countries and visited our studio. They have designed and built structures for their school gardens, organised their work for exhibitions and are in the process of preparing a book about the project.
