Commonwealth Games Village Masterplan

For the 2014 Athletes Village GHA collaborated with Broadway Malyan to develop the masterplan proposals during the bid stage and to look in detail at how the village could be developed as a new residential area to create a long term legacy of the games. As architects of the preferred masterplan proposals for the adjacent Bellgrove site development bid, GHA provided experience of similar scale regeneration sites.

A key consideration has been to develop a clear understanding of the extent and location of temporary facilities to support the Village and what might be the best balance in terms of facilities that might be retained or developed to provide for needs within the ongoing regeneration of the wider area. Our proposal is very much about creating a place focused around the particular qualities of the sites proximity to the River Clyde whilst ensuring ease of connections to the existing communities at Bridgeton, Parkhead and Rutherglen and to the centre of the City itself.
