On 18 March 2009 the Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre received a Civic Trust Award. The visitor centre was one of eight projects throughout Scotland to receive an award at a ceremony at the Emirates Stadium in London.

The Civic Trust Awards were established in 1959 and are one of the oldest built environment award schemes in Europe. They are given to outstanding projects in architecture, planning, environmental design, landscape, public art and urban design.
