“A community centre in the East End of Glasgow has won a top UK Government award. The £13million Bridge Arts Centre in Easterhouse was the only Scottish building or project put forward among 30 others across Britain. Judges praised the project, saying it was a great community resource which had been created against the odds.

Culture Minister Margaret Hodge, said: “The projects which we shortlisted were of an extremely high standard and those which have won awards are outstanding.” The Bridge scooped the Regeneration Award for the impact it has had on Easterhouse.
