After an interruption last year, Gareth Hoskins Architects decided to reinstate the annual summer barbeque with a trip to Finlaystone Country Park on Friday 03 July 2009. This year’s event, attended also by family and friends, was eagerly awaited with a mouthwatering selection of food promised and a range of sporting activities planned.

The weather leading up to the day was glorious with bright sunshine all week. However clouds began to gather during the morning and as the first sausages were put on the fire the heavens opened. A hardy few carried on manning the barbeque under golf umbrellas while the rest of the gathering sheltered under cover in a selection of outbuildings as the weather got progressively worse. A major storm ensued with thunder and lightning, driving the whole party indoors for the majority of the day. Typically the weather only began to clear up as the event neared to a close, but everyone made the most of the day and the food was still delicious even though cooked in the rain!
