Planning Approval for Strawberry Field Transformation

Proposals by Gareth Hoskins Architects for the world famous Strawberry Field site in Liverpool, moved a step closer to realisation this week.

Having identified a gap in their training provision The Salvation Army appointed Gareth Hoskins Architects in 2012 and a clear strategy for the site and building was established during an initial feasibility study. The scheme, which includes a new visitor centre and training centre for young adults with learning disabilities, was granted planning approval on 7 October 2014.

Key site features will be retained including the entrance gates which will be opened for the first time, to provide public access. Pedestrian and vehicular access will be improved and direct level access will be provided from the new building to the public and training centre gardens, where mature woodland will be retained as far as possible.

Positive feedback was received during consultation with local groups and residents prior to submission for planning and proposals were well received by the planning committee.
